40+ Singles Mixer

New 40+ Singles Event in Edwardsville Offers Real Connection—Without the Apps, Pressure, or Awkward Mixers

EDWARDSVILLE, IL — May 26, 2025

Let’s face it: dating over 40 is hard. The apps are frustrating, the small talk is exhausting, and the pressure to “work the room” at a singles event can feel more like a chore than a chance at connection. That’s why local Communication and Relationahip coach Laura Burkey is launching a new kind of singles night—one designed to take the awkward out and put the human back in.

The 40+ Singles Connection Night will take place at Off The Record, next to The Ink House in Edwardsville. This event is for adults who are tired of the swipe, scroll, and ghost routine and are ready to meet people in a real, relaxed, and intentional way.

“This isn’t a mixer where you’re left to navigate it all on your own,” says Burkey, who has been a communication and thought-behavior coach for nearly three decades. “We’re creating a space that makes it easier to talk, laugh, and actually relate—without the pressure to impress or perform.”

Throughout the evening, guests will participate in lightly guided experiences and connection prompts designed to help singles engage in sincere, natural conversations. The vibe is casual and warm, not forced or cheesy.

“You might meet someone you click with romantically,” says Burkey, “but you might also meet a great friend, collaborator, or just enjoy a conversation that reminds you what it feels like to be truly present with another person.”

This event is for singles age 40 and up—those who know what they want, but are tired of being disappointed by the usual dating scene. Whether you’ve recently re-entered the dating world, or you’re simply open to seeing who’s out there, this night offers something increasingly rare: an honest chance to connect.
