Presence of what; Absence of whom

In Presence of what; Absence of whom, St. Louis-based, Indian-born interdisciplinary artist Sukanya Mani presents her most intimate side by using clusters of undulating paper and fabric forms to retell the daily rituals and traditions that shaped her identity as an immigrant woman. Following her commitment to raising awareness about domestic abuse, with a highlight on immigrant and refugee populations, Mani asks the visitors to question the repeated rituals each of us performs to present our own versions of masculinity and femininity. This exhibition is an investigation of identity and meaning making through rituals, clothing over time.

A Tribute to Irving Berlin and Jerome Kern

Join celebrated vocalist Jan Shapiro, former head of the Vocal Jazz Department at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, for a captivating tribute to two of America’s greatest songwriters: Irving Berlin and Jerome Kern. This special performance, part of the Coffee Concert Series, takes place on Tuesday, March 25th, at 10:30 AM at the Kirkwood Performing Arts Center.

Shapiro’s sophisticated interpretations of timeless classics like “Blue Skies,” “All the Things You Are,” and more promise to delight and inspire. Sustainability Labs are opportunities for people working on, learning about, and advocating for sustainability to come together and discuss topics of local relevance.
