Presence of what; Absence of whomCOCA (Center of Creative Arts) In Presence of what; Absence of whom, St. Louis-based, Indian-born interdisciplinary artist Sukanya Mani presents her most intimate side by using clusters of undulating paper and fabric forms to retell the daily rituals and traditions that shaped her identity as an immigrant woman. Following her commitment to raising awareness about domestic abuse, with a highlight on immigrant and refugee populations, Mani asks the visitors to question the repeated rituals each of us performs to present our own versions of masculinity and femininity. This exhibition is an investigation of identity and meaning making through rituals, clothing over time. Femme In The End TimesBruno David is pleased to present Femme In The End Times, an exhibition by artist Danielle Mužina. This is the artist’s first solo exhibition with the gallery. In conjunction with the exhibition, Bruno David Gallery will publish a catalogue of the artist’s work with an in-depth exhibition history and bibliography. The work in “Femme In The End Times” exhibition continues to ask questions about gender-based oppression through envisioning fractured, pink-drenched parallel worlds where characters confront personal and collective agency. In these new additions to her Pink Apocalypse series, she delves further into the rituals, relationships, and acts of care that emerge as survival strategies when structures crumble. These paintings juxtapose moments of vigilance, intimacy, and transformation to question how we navigate our tenuous present. For more information, https://www.brunodavidgallery.com/ |

Danita MumphardFor 20 years, Danita Mumphard was the featured vocalist in the legendary St. Louis jazz group, Trio Trés Bien. Known far and wide, the group was very much a family affair. Under the mentorship of her father Harold Thompson (bassist), uncle Jeter Thompson (pianist), and uncle Howard Thompson (drummer), Danita honed her chops as a jazz singer. Danita grew up in an extended musical family. Her mother, Gwendolyn Thompson, served as a minister of music in many local churches, and a music teacher in the St. Louis Public Schools. At an early age, Danita began singing in churches with her mother. As she grew in vocal maturity, Danita moved from choirs and ensemble to work as a solo artist, prior to joining the Trio Trés Bien. Danita is presently a highly sought after entertainer in St Louis. She has performed in major events at Powell Symphony Hall, The Fox, The Sheldon, the Missouri Botanical Garden, and Laumeier Sculpture Park.
