Presence of what; Absence of whom

COCA (Center of Creative Arts)

In Presence of what; Absence of whom, St. Louis-based, Indian-born interdisciplinary artist Sukanya Mani presents her most intimate side by using clusters of undulating paper and fabric forms to retell the daily rituals and traditions that shaped her identity as an immigrant woman. Following her commitment to raising awareness about domestic abuse, with a highlight on immigrant and refugee populations, Mani asks the visitors to question the repeated rituals each of us performs to present our own versions of masculinity and femininity. This exhibition is an investigation of identity and meaning making through rituals, clothing over time.

Author Talk: What are Yeggmen? The Intersection of Building History and True Crime

Field House Museum

Join us on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 2:00 PM for a thrilling Author Talk with Ken Zimmerman Jr. as he delves into the dark and dramatic history of St. Louis crime and law enforcement. Based on several of his books, including True Crime, Disasters, and Police Tales of Old St. Louis, Zimmerman’s presentation recounts some of the city’s most shocking events from 1860 to 1909—when St. Louis stood as the largest city west of the Mississippi River.

Buildings are just bricks, wood, and mortar without the stories surrounding these structures. Zimmerman will tell the stories of many of St. Louis’ most recognizable buildings, expanding on the city’s connection to and history of true crime.

This program is free with limited availability in person and on Zoom. Reservations must be made in advance on our website, by calling the Museum at 314-421-4689, or by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

South City Comedy Series Standup Showcase

Apotheosis Comics & Lounge

It’s that magical time again – when a handful of comedians gather to question their life choices and pretend you're not scrolling on your phone during their set. Join us on December 7th at 8pm for a night of laughter (or at least audible exhaling through your nose).

We've got Alex Hayes, who swears he's funny; Harley Bushdieker, bringing laughs with a side of existential dread; Mollie Amburgey Day, who’s made peace with the fact that her life is your entertainment; and Eric Reussler, who once almost made his mom laugh.

Come for the jokes, stay because you’re already sitting down. See you there!
